Exciting Volunteer Opportunity at NAYC

Attention all DRESSAGE lovers! I hope this message will be able to help to find the right people in our area for this important job. OR….how about a vacation in Northern Michigan this summer? This is a great educational opportunity to learn first hand what the judges are looking for in the dressage ring.

The 2021 North American Youth Championships for Dressage (NAYC) are taking place in Traverse City, Michigan at Flintfields Horse Park on 5 competition days, Wednesday – Sunday August 11-15.

The event needs 5 E-scribes per day for the Dressage Events.

This commitment to E-scribe is for an International Panel of FEI 4* Judge. Each judge needs a scribe to quickly type the marks and remarks directly into an iPad via a keyboard.

The ideal E-Scribes should have some prior scribing experience. The knowledge of Apple devices is not critical as the system is intuitive. The ability to type is more important. The marks and remarks are electronically tallied so there is an immediate judging result when the rider leaves the arena.

The system is called eDressage and provided by Blackhorse One. The e-scribes will get a tutorial the day before. Generally, one test lasts 6/7 minutes and there is a 10 min break for the judge every 10 horses. The event itself starts promptly at 8.00 am and the event is done at around 2.00 pm, every day.

Let us add this, it takes a lot of volunteers to help a competition of this importance run smoothly. Even if you can’t E-Scribe, you could be a gate keeper or maybe a runner. Come join us and cheer on your favorite team while taking advantage of a great educational opportunity!
