What is a Yahoo! NewsGroup?

Yahoo! Newsgroups can be created by anyone that currently has a free Yahoo! E-mail account or chooses to set up a free account. The purpose of a newsgroup is to provide an arena for people with common interests to have conversations, ask questions to one another, and share their concerns. Members of a group can post messages themselves to initiate conversation or respond to a post from another member of the group.

Why did USDF create a group for PM and GMO Delegates?

USDF created the delegate newsgroup in August of 2008 and it is considered the official site for USDF delegate communication. The primary motivation for USDF to create the group was to provide a place where PM and GMO delegates could go to discuss USDF business and issues that delegates may need to vote on at the Board of Governors meeting. In addition, PM and GMO delegates can voice concerns and share opinions with one another on some of the “hot” topics within the dressage community. Not only does it provide a way for delegates to communicate with one another, but it also provides a medium in which USDF staff can communicate vital information to the delegates. For example, currently there are postings from the USDF staff regarding business/budget documents that have been posted on the USDF Web site, as well as reminders about upcoming deadlines.

Why should I, as a delegate, join the Newsgroup?

USDF wants to encourage all delegates to discuss what is affecting the USDF membership and be knowledgeable about issues that may require a vote at the Board of Governors meeting. The more information a delegate has, the better a decision that delegate can make. Plus, it’s easy to join!

How do I join the USDF Delegates Newsgroup?

First, go to the group home page for the Yahoo! Newsgroup at groups.yahoo.com/group/usdfdelegates. Next, click on the blue “Join this Group” button on the right of the page. This will take you to a page that asks you for your Yahoo ID and password. If you already have a Yahoo Account, just type in your ID and password and sign in. If you do not have an account, click the “Sign Up” icon. Once you click this icon it will take you to a page where you set up your free account. After you have created your yahoo account, you can go back to the group home page, click the “Join this Group” button on the right, and sign in using your new Yahoo ID and password.
