Process for electing Youth Executive Board Members
- Youth Executive Board (YEB) members are elected for two year terms on a rotating basis with odd and even numbered regions.
- In odd numbered years elections are held in Regions 2, 4, 6 and 8. In even years Regions 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 have elections
- USDF posts an ad in the February, March and April issues of USDF Connection, as well as sends out e-news, requesting that USDF members send their nominations to the Nominating Council liaison.
- Any USDF member can nominate a candidate for Youth EB by submitting their name to nominations@usdf.org.
- The nominee MUST be a USDF Youth member.
- Once USDF has received a nomination, an "acceptance letter" is sent to the nominee for completion.
- The letter tells each nominee what their responsibilities will be if they are elected to the YEB.
- The letter states that they are responsible for their own expenses to come to convention.
- If nominees are under the age of 18, USDF also requires a parent signature on the form.
- Nominees have the option of providing a brief biography along with their acceptance letter, which will be posted on the USDF Web site during elections.
- The deadline for all nominations to be received in the office is April 15th.
- USDF does not extend the April 15 deadline. There shall be no exceptions.
- The deadline for "acceptance letters" to be returned to the USDF office is April 15. However, some lenience may be granted if someone isn't nominated until April 15th to allow sufficient time to return the acceptance form to USDF.
- Ballots are mailed out to all current USDF youth members in the regions that are having elections around the end of May.
- On-line voting will adhere to the same deadlines.
- The deadline to have all ballots mailed to USDF is June 30. On-line voting ends at midnight E.S.T. on June 30.
- Winners and non-winners shall be notified by letter prior to making election results public. An e-news will follow to notify youth members of the election results.
