Communication – A Two-Way System of Understanding; expressing the importance of a signal system that eases the communication between horse and rider

"This is of great importance for riders in all stages, amateurs as well as professionals, and is something that we all need to work at every single day to improve our riding and performance," says Jan Brink, featured presenter at this year’s symposium.

Jan has been a presence on the global dressage scene for more than a decade but his teaching style reflects an insight and willingness to teach that indicates a lifetime of commitment to improving horse and rider performance. As popular with high performance riders as he is with lower level adult amateurs, Jan seeks performance improvement without sacrificing the mental or physical well being of the horse or rider.

So no matter what level you ride, or type of horse, Jan is sure to provide two packed days of advice and tips you can take home. Get ready to learn!

In 1981 Jan Brink began developing Tullstorp Dressage Stable (situated in Southern Sweden) into a modern dressage facility of high international standard. The main activities are breeding, training and competition, with the modern sport horse as its main focus.

With the stallion Briar 899, Jan has had great success in national as well as international arenas. The accomplishments of this partnership included:

  • Three Olympic Games
  • Eight World Cup Finals – placing in the top 6 four times
  • Two World Championships
  • Four European Championships – earning a team bronze medal 2007, an individual and team bronze medal 2005 and an individual silver medal in 2003
  • Many competitions at Aachen – being the overall winner once
  • More than 200 Grand Prix shows and more than 60 victories, of which half were in international competition

Since the retirement of Briar at the World Cup in 2009, he is experiencing new successes with his young stallion Double Diamond and other stallions and mares under his guidance.
