Full-time Position(s):

Education Department Assistant

The United States Dressage Federation, a non-profit equine organization focused on the sport of dressage, has an immediate opening for a full-time, hourly Education Department Assistant. The applicant must possess excellent customer service, written and oral communication skills; must be detail-oriented and versatile; must be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment; and must be able to manage projects and multi-task, while meeting assigned deadlines. The applicant must also possess proficient computer skills including database management and competency in all Microsoft Office applications.

The Education Department Assistant is responsible for supporting the Education Department staff and the programs they facilitate. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a wide range of administrative support related activities and will be able to handle a diverse workload. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, resourceful and efficient. Expert written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail are required, as well as a high level of professionalism and customer service.

Key Job Duties Include:

  • Prepare letters, memos, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software.
  • Enter and retrieve information contained in computer databases, update records and files, and answer inquiries from members.
  • Coordinate meetings, produce minutes, and provide support for meeting follow-up.
  • Interact with outside vendors, clinicians, and other entities in support of educational initiatives and events.
  • Operate standard office equipment other than computers.
  • Create and maintain computer and paper-based filing and organization systems for records, reports, documents, etc.
  • Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities.
  • Organize and ship information and materials for programs and events.
  • Track inventory of awards, program-specific materials, general office supplies and ordering as needed.
  • Assist members and direct phone calls.
  • Support website development of educational content.
  • Support Social Media initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills including a familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. Photoshop and Adobe Premier editing software a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Detail oriented

An equine background and/or dressage knowledge and familiarity are a plus but are not required. This is a full time hourly position and salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, as well as a generous vacation and holiday schedule.

Payroll/Human Resources Coordinator

The United States Dressage Federation, a national non-profit equine organization located at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, has an immediate opening in the Accounting Department for a full-time Payroll / Human Resources Coordinator.

Applicants for this position must be detail oriented and have a proven ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and handle, update and maintain sensitive information in a confidential, timely and professional manner.

The applicant will be responsible for performing and completing all activities related to processing the company's payroll. These duties include maintaining related records, preparing accounting transactions and documents, reconciliations to general ledger, documenting and updating procedures and preparing management reports. This position will manage the company's payroll process relationship with ADP.

The applicant will also be responsible for human resource administration duties. Some of the duties include: communicating company policies and employee benefit programs; coordinate company annual performance review process; maintaining employee personnel files; assist with the coordination and administration of benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, short-term & long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K; assist in responding to general employee inquiries and reconciliations to general ledger.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor in accounting, business or related HR field
  • 3-5 years of hands on experience in benefits and payroll processing
  • Strong accounting skills as is related to the payroll and benefit functions
  • Maintain current knowledge of all HR regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws.
  • Familiar with payroll programs; ADP applications preferred
  • Analyze information, attention to detail, confidentiality, thoroughness
  • Detail orientated, accurate and organized
  • Must be a self-starter and highly organized with close attention to detail and accuracy, and strong analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication skills – verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Accounting Software, MAS90 experience preferred
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
