
The United States Dressage Federation, an equine non-profit organization, located at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky has an immediate opening in the IT Department for a full-time, salaried Software/Database Programmer.
RESPONSIBILITIES will include, but not limited to, the following:
1. Produce or modify computer programs of all sizes and complexity using VB.
2. Produce or modify SQL driven asp pages for website use.
3. Solve system and program problems.
4. Recommend courses of action on new application jobs, while considering the total system spectrum, from source document origination to final systems output and handling.
5. Handle extensive research, analysis, definition and documentation on all facets of the job.
6. Provide support for other programming staff.
7. Work with minimal supervision and responsible at making an established range of decisions.
8. Performing other duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS are as follows:
Education / Experience: College degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years experience
Proven significant programming experience (e.g. research, design, gathering requirements, working with business units, developing programs, testing, documentation, production support). Cite examples demonstrating this experience.
Good verbal communication skills needed
Computer & Software Proficiency:
Visual Basic 6.0 and Visual Studio 2005 (.NET)
- Stand-alone applications
- Class modules
- Web programming (Includes knowledge of a clustered environment.)
- Visual Basic with Microsoft Access databases (Includes interacting with data,
initiating macros, producing reports, etc.)
SQL Server 2000
- Database administration (Includes the creation/maintenance of databases, stored
procedures and user security.)
-SQL programming (Includes DTS packages and SQL language. Also, includes Query
Analyzer.)
-Visual Basic with SQL databases (Includes ADO connections and ODBC connections.)
-Microsoft Access with SQL databases
Crystal Reports
- Report development and maintenance
-Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and prioritize requests based on need/ urgency
-Experience with ASP, HTML and related web technologies.

The Systems Administrator is responsible for providing oversight and service for the technical systems of the USDF. Applicant must be able to manage projects, have interpersonal skills, be self motivated and have good communication skills.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
1. Diagnose and repair technical issues with workstations, servers, and all peripheral devices.
2. Build, configure and install workstations.
3. Install, configure, and administer server architecture and network shares.
4. Administer Active Directory, including user account creation, permissions assignment, and maintenance.
5. Administer Exchange email systems, including email account creation and troubleshooting, database health monitoring and troubleshooting, and spam filter configuration and monitoring.
6. Maintain software licenses.
7. Configure and install IIS and SQL, Administer and troubleshoot IIS, and assist with administration and troubleshooting of SQL.
8. Configure, troubleshoot and administer network functions including Cisco PIX firewall, VPN devices, switches, routers and cabling.
9. Provide primary support to all staff in regards to hardware, software, network and other technical issues, within a constructive and positive facilitation with staff and departments.
10. Administer VOIP phone system, including account creation and configuration.
11. Configure and maintain network backups and data security.
12. Serve as on-site contact for technical contractors/vendors.
13. Serve as on-site technical support for software and systems vendors, including accounting software vendors, online store software vendors, and copier service.
14. Facilitate technical needs with media support companies in preparation for the annual convention.
15. Research, test and recommend emerging technologies.
16. Design, test and deploy non-standard systems for specialized use.
17. Provide budget and purchasing input for IT, other technical systems, and media projects as appropriate.
18. Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education / Experience: Four Year Degree preferred, Microsoft Certified Professional certification or higher, at least 2 years experience.
Computer & Software Proficiency: Office 2007; Windows XP, Vista, 7; Server 2000, 2003, 2008; Exchange, IIS, SQL; Cisco VPN, Router, and Firewall software; Workstation and server hardware; network devices including switches, cabling, etc.; Maintain software licenses; Nortel VOIP hardware and software.
Manual and machine skills: Computer/Copier/Fax/Phone/Printer experience.
Communication skills: Good communication skills needed, with a premium on customer service.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs; ability to crawl under desks and odd positions; ability to climb and work from a ladder.
Mental Requirements: Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and prioritize requests based on need/ urgency.
